SOLYMI
populi in summis Tauri montis iugis constituti, inter Lycios et Pisidas, proterea a Strabone nunc his nunc illis attribuuntur. Deos hic oluêre post mortem tres istos e Viris Principibus, Ἄρσαλον, Δρύον, Τροσωβιόν, ut eos appellat Plut. de defect. Oracul. ubi illos ait vocatos Deos σκληροὺς, quod Turnebus saevos vertit. Sed Σκιροὺς rescribendum esse, constat ex Eusebio de Praepar. Euang. l. 5. c. 5. ubi hunc locum adducit, sed tres Principes adpellat Ἄβαλον, Ἄρυτον, Τόσιβινς ac Τόσιβις quoque est apud Suidam. Verum apud Theodoretum Graecarum affect. curat. l. 3. ubi idem Plutarchi locus adducitur, pro Τόσιβιν est Τάτιβιν. It. pro Δρύον, vel Α῎ρυτον, ibi legas Α῎ρυον, Σκιροὶ, dicti videntur, quia statuae eorum essent e Sciro, h. e. marmore, vel ut alii malunt, gypso. Ac nihil minus verisimile, quam σκληροὺς dixisse, quos interemptos tantopere dolerent, et, pro benefactis, divinis afficere honoribus vellent. Duros tamen redditum legas quoque in ea Theodoreti interpretatione, quam doctissimus Sylburgius recensuit. Sic in Lycia infra Cragum Pandarum Pinarorum incolae coluêere; in Cilicia Niobe, in Caria Tlepolemus Rex, apud Rhodios Alexander M. apud Alabandenses Alabandus; Ephesi Pyxodorus culti sunt: Aliique alios viros de se, dum viverent, benemeritos, post obitum similiter divinis honoribus extulerunt, Gerh. Ioh. Voss. Idolol. l. 1. c. 21. Vide quoque Salmas. ad Solin. p. 619. ubi Solymos populos eosdem cum Pisidis faciens, prius sic dictos esse contendit, nec non p. 784. ubi de Solymis montibus, unde illis nomen, plura.
